Ioanna Stroumpouli and Dimitris Chloros,

owners of Keresbino and co-founders of HYDROGOIOS

WELCOME

After completing the renovation of our historic family mansion, Keresbino Hydra, we felt inspired to share the joy and tranquility it has always provided to us with the world. This unique residence combines Venetian architecture, local tradition, and the maritime history of Hydra, creating a special blend of simplicity, serenity, and an unexpected sense of familiarity.
The artistic passions of our children, Marianiki and Christos-Nektarios, at an early age, compelled us to take a significant step. We decided to establish an Art Refuge in HYDRA (ΥΔΡΑ), inviting any artist (ogoios) to find inspiration, create, and share their unique work with the community. We are excited to welcome you to ΥΔROGOIOS, an unprecedented artistic venue situated in Keresbino, one of Hydra’s most historically significant and well-preserved mansions.
Looking forward to sharing the exceptional ambiance of ΥΔROGOIOS with you,

The Idea and Philosophy

"ΥΔROGOIOS" is derived from the words "ΥΔΡΑ" (Hydra) and "ogoios" (όγοιος), a precious poetic term found in Giannis Karamitsos' book, which means "anyone." The fusion of these words gave birth to "ΥΔROGOIOS" (HYDROGOIOS), a newly coined term that places individual creative work at the core of Hydra. With this inspiration, we have established "ΥΔROGOIOS" as a remarkable and innovative space dedicated to human creativity, art, and culture. Our mission is to embrace the works of exceptional creators – artists, writers, and musicians – whether they are renowned experts or undiscovered, yet gifted newcomers.

The Space

"HYDROGOIOS" is discreetly nestled in the heart of Hydra, a mere 150 meters from the port, within Keresbino, a traditional mansion originally constructed in 1780. Noted for its distinctive architecture and harking back to the Venetian Occupation era, Keresbino exudes understated grandeur. The sturdy wooden beams, affectionately termed "boudelia" by local seafarers to describe the wooden poles supporting beached boats, stand out as a defining feature. The predominant materials are local marble stone and wood, harmoniously intertwined within the imposing walls. Keresbino stands as the legacy of the Stroumpouli family, handed down from grandmother to granddaughter.

...

Inside "ΥΔROGOIOS," you will encounter built-in stoves and chimneys adorning the walls, capacious cellars originally used for storing various commodities, wooden cabinets adorned with mirrors, portraits, and everyday items – cherished possessions passed down through generations. The surroundings of "ΥΔROGOIOS" encompass a 400-meter-long garden, graced by orange and lemon trees, along with an exquisitely crafted marble fountain. Enclosed by a stone wall, this splendid yet secluded garden provides a serene haven that can serve as a secure open-plan exhibition area, a tranquil and inspiring workspace, or an ideal venue for workshops.
